Learn how to monetize Facebook traffic

Facebook Traffic Bitter Strawberry Guide

In this day and age everyone that has any sort of business or wants to try to make money with affiliate marketing knows that social media is very important.

There are plenty of ways to help your business with social media, but one that’s been heavily discussed and is the most well-known and with the most potential is Facebook.

Even before you’ve had a real plan you’ve thought about how you could make money with Facebook but probably didn’t know where to begin.

But this is where we come in! We’ll teach you what you can do to become an expert!

First things first – your niche

The very first thing you have to do to be able to monetize your Facebook traffic is to find your niche. You can’t just make a Facebook page, put on it everything you want, add random people and expect to make money.

You have to find a niche. It has to be something that you know a lot about or something that you can research and master. The more defined your niche is, the better. You will then have the right people liking your page and they will be a lot more active and willing to click or buy what it is you are selling.

Understanding Facebook’s rules and restrictions

It’s highly important that before you get things started you make sure you know the rules of the game. This means that you have to check all of Facebook’s restrictions and rules and see which content is banned from this social media website.

There are some things that will get instantly banned if you post them, like for example everything that is considered by Facebook and other users as containing nudity or disturbing content of cruelty and other malicious behavior.

You do not want to risk having your content taken down and your account and page being closed indefinitely. Every single time your page gets closed or restricted you are losing users, clients and money, so don’t risk it.

What is more, every country has its own set of rules of what is and isn’t accepted and depending on which country you settle on marketing to you have to take these rules into account.

If you are targeting various countries, then you will have to work even harder to create content fit for all of them at the same time.

The rules of each country will affect the niche you’ve chosen as well. There are some domains which are off limits in most places. We’re talking about the adult industry, the gambling industry and even the dating one.

You shouldn’t take any actions before you have understood every rule and have studied the market to see if there’s room for you.

Offers, verticals and market research

It’s really important if you actually have a product of your own or if you are going for affiliate marketing. Getting your own product can be really time consuming and it can also cost you a lot of money. Even those that have a great idea for a product you will have to invest a lot of money in the beginning.

From a few thousands to tens of thousands of dollars you will have to have a big budget as well as wait a couple of months until you have your product and business up and running. You also have to think about the distribution of the product, a warehouse to keep the product in and even a call center for when the customers have questions of issues.

If you don’t have your personal product you will have to choose your vertical and then go on to find what offers are available and which of them could work for you. Deciding to become an affiliate is the easier and cheaper way to go. The easiest way is to test and find the best product to promote from an affiliate platform.

You will have to research the market and see what works, what trends are currently in place. If you can do a broad study and find something that has been trending for a long time and has the potential of an evergreen then you’re set. You want something that can work for a long time.

E-commerce is for beginners

The easiest way to start until you are no longer a beginner is to stick to the things you know and understand completely. This means focusing on real products. For example, convincing people to buy some things on the internet and have them shipped to their home is a lot easier than convincing them to try new software or subscribe to something.

People are more likely to want to buy something they can actually keep and they know they need. This is why e-commerce works best for you in the beginning, even if you might not make as much money. There are plenty of things that sell great on Facebook like wonder-bras, black masks for blackheads, gold masks, diet pills etc.

Learn how to make prelanders

Prelanders will be your best friends. These can really help. Sure, they will take quite some work because you have to make one for every single product you are trying to help sell. You can also use default pages but these get banned quite often because a lot of affiliates send Black Hat traffic to them. This is why prelanders are your best option at the moment.

You have to buy a domain and create your prelanders. For every product you need a different version. Make it catchy and convincing. Don’t forget to have cookies, terms and conditions as well as a return policy.

The better you prelander is, the more chances you have of people actually buying something. This applies to every kind of marketing and no matter where you are trying to sell, prelanders work great, not only for Facebook.

If you want to make sure people are buying, you have to make them feel special. This means putting a countdown on the offer, letting potential buyers know that there are

only a few products left and that the offer is about to expire to make them speed up the process of decision and buy it.

Optimize everything

It’s important whether your Facebook page is just at the beginning and growing or if it’s already quite large and has been around for some time. If it’s old then you should make sure to let things sink in slowly and update the users about the changes that will happen. They should have all the information available before you start trying to make money off them.

If the product you will be selling isn’t that popular yet, you must give the users some history and facts on it and even some recommendations from someone they trust, like a local celebrity.

When a product was marketed to the same audience but with different campaigns, one involving a local celebrity (right) and the other one an international celebrity (left), the performances of the ads were quite different. Below them you can see the landing page of the product.

Product Landing Page

Product Landing Page

Shockingly enough, the local celebrity did better than the international one. The CTR for the local celebrity campaign was 70% higher than the other one, with a lot more people deciding to go to the “sale page” and it also had a 15% higher CR%.

You should make sure that you never break their trust because if they do not trust you they will not buy anything from you and they will unlike your page and move on.

When you take a page from 0 and start building it up it might be a bit easier because you can start marketing right away without having to worry about losing any users. If they are there then you can be sure that they like what you do and agree with it.

But before you can get people to like your page you have to optimize it and make it clear what its purpose is. The landing page is really important and you want to make sure that you make everything really easy for the potential buyers.

Use all the tricks you have to improve your landing page

Get a flat design landing page, have a call to action on the top and a sign-up form on the upper right side. The sign-up form can be sticky and scrollable. The most important information should be at the top and at the bottom, preferably on the right side. If you have any special information like refund policies and free shipping, for example, they should be easy to see from the beginning.

Studies show that when they open a page people usually look first on the top left side and then glance over the top of the page towards the right part. Therefore, all of your important selling points should be easy to see at first glance. By the time the user has read the upper part he should have a basic understanding of your product and on the right side at the end a call to action for conversion (sign up, order form). Order or buy buttons can also work in the middle, but never on the left side.

You must keep in mind that most users tend to bounce from your page in just 15 seconds. The time-frame varies from industry to industry, but that’s the average time.

Try a 5 second test. You show your page to a user for 5 seconds and ask them to answer a couple of questions about your page. If they can’t tell you the most important things about your page and product then you should rethink the entire thing and start over.

Look at the picture below to see an example of an ad that passes the 5 second test and works.

Ad example

Get free widgets for you landing page and make sure that you don’t forget anything that could help you. Make sure that everything is optimized and can be easily accessible from a desktop computer as well as from mobile devices.

If you’ve chosen a tier 2 country for your marketing campaigns as a target then you should use the language that those people speak, don’t just stick with English for everything. Not everyone speaks English and people will be more convinced by something in their native tongue.

If you don’t know that language hire some translators, you can find ones that do a good job, and are also cheap, on freelancing websites. Give fiverr.com and elance.com a go, they have a lot of professionals that can help you.

Know your audience

For your marketing campaigns to have any effect you have to know everything about your audience and cater your marketing to their needs. This means that you should know what age groups they are and what gender, as well as what operating systems they use.

So, if you want to advertise on mobile devices something for a younger audience everything is fine, but if what you want to market for an older population then you can’t use the same ads as you would use for the younger people and it’s important that you optimize for desktops and not for mobile devices. Not as many people of the older generation use mobile devices to order things so they won’t really need this optimization, but for younger customers it’s vital.

A great tool you can use is AdEspresso. You can use it for free for 30 days and you don’t need to put in any credit card details until your trial expires. You can choose whether or not to use it and pay for it after the 30 days. This tool can help you split campaigns and make ads to cater for different types of target audiences.

This tool is great for testing purposes. Instead of creating ads with different texts one by one, AdExpresso lets you add several headlines and multiple ad texts and then creates tens of ad versions at once. They also offer a spy-tool that grants you the option of seeing the competitors’ Facebook ads for free so that you can find inspiration. Check out the competition HERE!

Those that have many campaigns at the same time which they want to test should go for another tool that works with google analytics as well. The optimizer will make sure that everything works fine even if you do not have the time to optimize each one of them.

How to actually do it

You should keep your eye on Google Analytics and Facebook Insights at the same time and make sure that there are no major discrepancies between them. If there are you have to try and understand why this is happening and what you are doing wrong.

Whenever you want to advertise you should always have in mind that nothing works without A/B testing. You need to create ad groups based on age, sex etc and then create separate ads for each group.

The first week for each ad is the test week. You make a lot of different ads and don’t target that deep. 20 to 30% of your results might surprise you. The next week you go deeper with your targeting.

With every new piece of information you gather, you leave out some of the ads and redo others. When you see that one of them is doing better than the others you increase the budget on that one, but you don’t go from 1 to 100 instantly, you do it gradually. You don’t know how it will scale up and there are infinite pools of possible clients.

Facebook will take money for clicks and a lot of the people that see your ads and click on them might not buy anything. Make sure to keep your eye on your ROI and see what percentage is good for your business.

If you have a shopping site you might also want to try Remarketing and show the customers ads for products that they have previously seen or bought.

Amazon Associates is the Affiliate programme. The great thing about Amazon is that the products and demand is already there, people are actively searching for their offerings, you just need to link the search with the consumer. In this article I will be talking about why it is a good place to start and also Affiliate Re-Birtha course that will help you get started with amazon. Everything from choosing the right products, to how to promote them using free traffic, it’s a newbies guide to earning. This course is for those who have a low budget, or maybe want to build a budget while they learn some skills, to then further progress into CPA Marketing. They don’t have the money to invest in necessary resources, so this course is a shout out to help all you guys not only build a budget, but also learn some valuable skills that will help you when you start to build your own online career.

The vendor of Affiliate re-birth is Greg Kononenko, Who is working in conjunction with Shahnawaz Sadique and Stefan Ciancio. These 3 have teamed up to create something that is newbie friendly, accessible, and proven. The method described and taught in the course stems from Shanawaz, his experience is reflected in the course in that he is sharing his own methods and ways to use free traffic to succeed with Amazon Associates. Shahnawaz has an MBA from Disha Institute Of Management And Technology Raipur. He has a long stretch of experiences in sales and digital marketing, he loves to share his passion for Digital marketing on his blog; commonstupidman.com . He is one of the few people from industry who are hyper active on twitter.  Aside from his experience he also works with Travelwithsmile.Com  in Sales and Digital Marketing.

Why Amazon Associates?

PRODUCTS

One major reason I recommend Amazon associates is something I mentioned earlier, the demand and search is there, you are just the link. This is the case for many products and affiliate programmes, but the difference here is that people are ACTIVELY searching for the products you will be promoting. You won’t need to convince or push anybody into buying anything. The best thing is that the products will be easy to sell and there’s an unlimited number of products TO sell, as amazon adds new products every, single, day.

EXTRA AD ONS

One huge advantage that Amazon associates offer is that when you sell one item, if a consumer buys something else in the same purchase, in the same basket, you gain commissions on the other product/s too. So you don’t just earn on one product a day, you are open to whatever that particular consumer buys along with the product you promote, and lets face it, who buys just ONE thing? The key is to find the right product .

COMPETITION

In terms of competition, something I always stress to students and associates is the importance of spy tools and keeping an eye on your competition. If you can get ahead of the game or ahead of your competition, you can earn more. With Amazon associates yo are able to search what your competition is doing as thousands of affiliate are promoting amazon offers everyday. In Regards to this, Affiliate Re-Birth

helps you choose products that are in demand, that will sell like hot cakes using free traffic. These people know their stuff and will guide you to choosing a profitable niche, build the right website and how to monetise the FREE TRAFFIC yo are driving to your site.

HOBBY

Another major advantage of amazon associates is that one can integrate their hobby. Using a personal example before getting into the CPA game, we dipped our feet in the Amazon technology niche and made over $13k in sales per month. What drove that income? A passion for technology, a passion for the latest trends in technology, the latest gadgets and features. If you have passion, you have drive, if you have drive, you are destined to succeed. Many will support me in the notion that if you love what you do, you do it better.

GETTING YOUR FOOT IN THE DOOR

By starting a career with Amazon Associates you can connect with like minded individuals and brands. By promoting certain brands you are putting yourself out there to get noticed and opening more doors. When we first started with Amazon electronics, within a  few months, leading brands in the technology niche were contacting us for partnerships and commending our promotion techniques and reviews of their products. So it is also a great networking start.

Who Is Amazon Associates for?

Affiliate Marketing For Dummies The 7 Steps To Start Successful Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing has been around for a very long time, and it has been one of the most common methods for a lot of people to make money online. For those who are new to the term “Affiliate marketing” it simply means you earn by promoting products online, earning a cut from each sale. There are millions of products that you can promote online, which are offered by various companies around the world.

With affiliate marketing, you don’t need to create your own product in order to start making money online. You simply take a look at the products that are offered by other companies, and then try to promote those products. When somebody buys the product through your affiliate link, then you will be given the percentage of the sale into your account. Often, once the payment reached a certain threshold, you will be able to cash out your affiliate commission, either via check or bank transfer, but some networks/companies pay out on a sale to sale basis.

For instance, if you are promoting a product with a $97 price tag, and the company that releases the product offers you a 50% commission for every sale that you make using your affiliate link, then you will get $48.5 for every sale that you make. If you can make 100 sales per month for that product, then you can cash out a monthly affiliate commission of $4850 to your bank account.

The concept of affiliate marketing is very simple, but it can be very difficult to follow for an absolute beginner. If you want a step by step guide to affiliate marketing, here are a few steps that you need to follow. These steps will help you to understand more about affiliate marketing, and help you get started on your own affiliate business as quickly and as easily as possible.

Step #1 – The Foolproof Formula To Pick The Right Niche

Before you even pick the products to promote for your affiliate business, you have to pick the niche that you want to delve into. A niche is  a small category of a topic that you want to work on. It shouldn’t be too broad, and it needs to have its own group of audience. For instance, “weight loss” can be considered a niche for your affiliate business, but it is a very broad niche.

For affiliate marketing to be effective, you have to pick a narrower niche that contains a group of audience desperate to find a good solution for their problems. Thus, for the case of “weight loss”, you can simply pick a narrower niche, such as “weight loss for young moms”. This is a better pick, since you can focus on your promotion toward young moms that are struggling to lose weight after giving birth.

affiliate marketing

In order for affiliate marketing to be effective, you have to pick a narrower niche

So, how can you find the right niche for your affiliate marketing campaigns? The foolproof formula to pick the right niche for your affiliate business:

  • It needs to be profitable. You don’t want to pick products that will in turn become unprofitable for you. When you spend a lot of marketing effort and budget for the promotion of these products, you may only get a small Return On Investment (ROI). So, picking a profitable niche is important, to ensure that all your hard work will pay off. You have to pick a niche that has potential for making good money, such as weight loss, finance, investment, Lead generation and so on. Consider your ROI carefully.
  • It needs to have sufficient demand. When you pick a niche, you are actually choosing a market where you will promote your product. This market has an audience with its own demographics; personality, age range, income range, and so on. What you need to do is to ensure that your niche market has sufficient demand for your products. Why Do these people desperately need a solution to their problems? This is the question that you need to answer first. A lot of marketers approach this with What problems do these people have that your products can solve or How can their problems be solved. The key is to ask WHY, thus giving them the solution on a plate, rather than bartering around.
  • Look at the keywords. You can research your niche by using the Google Keyword Planner Tool to search for the related keywords in your niche. For instance, if you are interested in the weight loss niche, then you will put the keyword “weight loss” on the Google Keyword Planner Tool, and search for related keywords from there. You will find thousands of related keywords, which you can research again in the same manner. Do this until you find the niche that is narrow enough with good demand and little competition.
  • It should be evergreen. The niche that you pick shouldn’t only be a temporary trend. For instance, if you pick the niche “Halloween costumes”, then you will only be able to promote your products at the time of Halloween. Thus, you cannot make money each and every day from that niche. So pick a niche that is evergreen, a constant.
  • Take a peek at Offer Vault. Offer Vault is the good place to search for the offers you want to promote. Search for the offers in your niche. Offer Vaults’ network directory has almost all affiliate networks, and their offers, along with other important details like payout and earnings per click, listed.  It also has a list of categories to browse, as well as a list of products based on country. This way, you can discover your niche really fast.

You should spend some time researching your niche before you delve further into your affiliate marketing business. Once you’ve decided to pick the right niche for your business, it’s time to determine which products that you want to promote to your audience.

Step #2 – Pick Your Promoted Products The Brilliant Way

There are millions of products that are available online today, and a big percentage of them have  their own affiliate programs or they are working with affiliate networks. When you narrow it down to your chosen niche, there are probably hundreds and thousands of products that are available for you to promote in that niche, depending on how popular your niche is. So, how can you pick the products to promote in your affiliate marketing business? Not all products will have a high conversion rate. So don’t have any prior expectations, if you are a master of your niche, conversation rates shouldn’t be an immediate issue.

In regards to this, there are some important things that you should pay attention to before choosing the products to promote. Always remember that because a product is popular, it doesn’t mean that it will have a high conversion rate. So, you cannot simply pick popular products out there and start promoting them like crazy. Here are some useful tips to pick the right products to promote:

  1. Understand the needs of your audience. Each niche market has its own group of audience that you will target later. This group of audience has their own needs and problems, and they are looking for a solution to fix their problems or fulfill their needs. What you need to do is to understand the needs of your audience, knowing how they think, their fears, and the problems that they are facing right now. Then, pick the products that can help them to solve their problems as easily as possible.
  1. Pick the products with high ratings. Whatever affiliate network that you choose to use, you need to pick the products that have high ratings and positive feedback. You want the products to be highly recommended by real users, so that when you promote it to your audience, they will not be hesitant to buy the products right away. Don’t pick products that have low ratings or no ratings at all.
  1. Pick the products that share a reasonable commission. Promoting these products as an affiliate marketer means you have to spend a lot of time, money, and effort into the promotional campaign. So, you don’t want your hard work to go to waste. You want to promote the products that share a big commission per sale, so that you can get your return on investment as quickly as possible.
  1. Lifetime commission products are the best. If you can find the products that offer lifetime commission for you, it is even better for your long-term investment. This means that the sales that you get today will produce affiliate commissions for you for years to come, for as long as your customers stay as customers. There are quite a lot of affiliate products that offer this commission structure.
  1. High converting sales page. Before going with a product to promote, first you have to read the sales page of the product to determine whether it will convert well or not. Try to read the sales page from start to finish, and if you are compelled to buy the product, then it is positive that the sales page is persuasive enough, and it will convert well for your audience. Go for the products that have the most persuasive sales pages.
  1. Ask Your affiliate manager. Consult with your affiliate manager and get their opinion about the best converting offers in your niche. Affiliate Managers have all kinds of data, so they can be a great source to help you out with selecting offers, offers which are converting on their affiliate networks. If you can build a strong relationship with your affiliate manager, they can also provide you additional material which could be of help. So always make sure you keep a good relationship with your affiliate managers.Note here are a few networks I recommend you to start with : Maxbounty , leadbit.com ,W4.comChoosing the right products for your affiliate promotion will make it easier for you to earn commissions from the products that you promote. Make a list of products to promote on your niche, and prepare to join the affiliate networks that host those products. Read more in our special guide about How to pick up a winner CPA offer.

Step #3 – Finding  Trusted Affiliate Networks That Pay For Your Hard Work

Affiliate networks are basically the companies that host the affiliate products and the ones that will pay the commission for your affiliate sales. So, this is the place where a lot of vendors can list their products, so that affiliate marketers can find those products and begin promoting them. Examples of Traditional Affiliate Networks are Clickbank, Amazon, and ShareASale. Similarly, you can Find CPA Affiliate Networks which basically pay per action. For example; pay for signing up to a website, making people install apps on their phones, etc. You cannot promote products as an affiliate unless you sign up to the relevant affiliate network and become a member.

Pick Affiliate Networks which pay you on time

Pick Affiliate Networks which pay you on time

However, with a lot of affiliate networks available, the bad news is that not all of them are trusted companies that will pay you for your hard work. Sometimes, bad affiliate networks might withhold your payment, or pay you less as compared to other affiliate networks. This is why you should find/work with the best affiliate networks, ones that you can trust. Here are some tips to find the trusted affiliate networks that pay for your hard work:

  • How long have they been about? If you find an affiliate network that seems new to you,  check the company profile online. Has the company been around for some time, or is it a new company? Be wary of doing business with new companies, since you don’t know for sure about their reputation. To make things simple, choose the affiliate networks that have been around for some time, and have some sort of presence. Try looking on affiliate marketing groups on Facebook, If you are not sure about an affiliate network feel free to ask in our Facebook group .
  • They should make the payment on time. The affiliate networks that you pick should have a good payment reputation, in that they don’t miss affiliate payments. They should treat all affiliates well, by giving their payments on time. One of the common traits of untrustworthy affiliate networks is that they will make excuses to delay your affiliate payment, and usually, they will hold your commissions for no reason.
  • They should accept affiliates easily. There are some affiliate networks that are known to accept only experienced affiliates for their network. Usually they will require you to have  a few campaigns running already with other networks and would like you to show them some sort of proof of earnings. These are not the companies that you want to work with, especially if you are still a beginner. Instead of wasting your time on signing up to these networks start with networks where you can be accepted easily and spend your precious time working on your campaigns. I understand the logic that not every tom, dick and harry will excel, so they have to be careful, but it shouldn’t be a chore to join a network.
  • They should have a good commission structure/system. The commission structure offered by the affiliate networks should be fair for both vendors and affiliates, and they should have a good system to track your affiliate sales. There are networks that are known to be cheating their affiliates by eliminating the sales from their affiliates randomly. Be sure to avoid these types of networks. That is why you need to join the networks that are beginner friendly, yet they have a good reputation.
  • They should have positive reviews from affiliates. Before you join any affiliate network that you’ve selected, make sure you read some reviews from the affiliates using that network. Usually, there are many affiliates that discuss certain affiliate networks in online forums, and they usually post their reviews and feedback there. Take a good look at those forums and make sure that you only join the networks with positive reviews from the affiliates. You can also read reviews on affpaying.com or have a look at Kj Rocker’s recommended networks lists.

Now that you’ve picked the right niche, chosen your products, and join the affiliate networks, it’s the time for you to really start the marketing process for those products. For this, you have to build your own affiliate marketing arsenal and prepare your promotional materials there.

Step #4 – The Easy Way To Prepare Your Affiliate Marketing Arsenal

When it comes to affiliate marketing, your only job is to promote the affiliate products to your audience, without forcing them to buy it. So, you simply tell them about the products and why it is a solution to their problems, and then give your affiliate link to your audience so that they can check out the sales page, and gain more insight. Then, when your audience decides to buy the product, you get the affiliate commission for your effort.

Its Important to have the right tools for your affiliate marketing campaigns

Its Important to have the right tools for your affiliate marketing campaigns

The problem here is that there are hundreds and probably thousands of affiliate marketers that are promoting the same products as you. So, you have to compete with them, which is why you need to prepare your affiliate marketing arsenal properly. In this way, you can get ahead of your competition and make more sales in doing so. So, here are some tips to prepare your affiliate marketing arsenal the easy way:

  • Build your own website. You can always create a free blog for your affiliate marketing efforts, but do not do that unless you want to waste your time. The best way to promote your affiliate products is by building your own website, and focus your promotion there. You don’t need to build two or three or even ten free blogs to promote different products. Just one website is enough, and since you’ve picked your niche, you can build your website around that topic and easily attract your audience that way.
  • Host your website on VPS. Shared hosting might be a good solution for the beginners who are running a website with a lower traffic volume. However, when you are running affiliate marketing campaigns as a business, its important to take it as a business and make sure you most out of your campaigns so always start with at least VPS hosting. ( check out discount form our friends at liquid web hosting). Shared hosting servers are being shared by many web masters and that can slow your website or landing page performance, which may result in loss of sales. When we are promoting affiliate marketing campaigns each and every visitor is important and a potential customer. Also if you are running paid traffic you don’t want slow website speed to turn away your potential customers while you are paying for their visit to your website.
  • Build valuable content around your niche. The most important thing that you have to do with your website is content building. You need to develop valuable content for your website, which makes the visitors want to come back to your site for more. The content needs to be able to help solve your audience’s problems and it should be able to entertain them as well. You need to update your website regularly with new content.  Read more about 5 Smart content Marketing Strategies.
  • Link with social media pages. Create official social media pages for your website where people can get in touch with you in various social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and more. Whenever you update new content on your website, be sure to notify your social media followers about it, and make sure to develop a strong follower base for all of your social media pages.
  • Focus on promoting several products at the same time. While you need to focus on developing your promotional materials on your website, it doesn’t mean that you can only promote one product on it. You can promote several products at the same time on your website. You can even give your audience the product comparison chart in order to make it easier for them to determine which product to buy. You can offer reviews for various products related to your niche and include your affiliate links there.  Read More: Why you should build mailing list.
  • Promote your products within your web content. Aside from developing valuable content for your website, you should also insert your affiliate links within your content and make it a part of your content. In this way, when people read your content, they might be persuaded to click on the affiliate link just to learn more about the product. However, you should do it only if the affiliate products are directly relevant to your content.

You have prepared a good affiliate marketing arsenal that is ready to help you convert your visitors into customers, and generate lots of affiliate sales for you. Next, it’s the time for you to find out ways to attract more traffic to your website.

Step #5 – Super Effective Ways To Build Traffic To Your Promotional Materials

Since your website contains the valuable content that your audience will read, and within the content, you will insert the affiliate links to your promoted products, then it can be said that your website contains various promotional materials for your affiliate business. Unless you can drive traffic to your website, you cannot generate any sales from your promotion. Thus, it is important for you not only to focus on developing valuable content for your website, but also to attract traffic to your website as well.

You will need good traffic volume to generate good a good number of leads

You will need good traffic volume to generate good a good number of leads

What you need to know about attracting traffic to your website is that there are generally two ways of doing that. The first way is using the organic search engine traffic, which you can do over time, for free. The second way is using the paid traffic, something you can do instantly as long as you have the budget to run the ad campaigns. The point in attracting traffic is to attract more people to your website, so that they can finally be sent to your affiliate product sales page. Here are some super effective ways to build traffic to your promotional materials:

  1. Provide your content on YouTube. YouTube is one of the biggest traffic websites on the internet today, and lots of people usually prefer watching videos than reading articles. That’s why it is important for you to have a solid presence on YouTube, so that you can build your own audience there. Create your own channel and provide content related to your niche, such as how-to, instructions, guides, tips, reviews, and more. Always link back to your website on each of your videos.
  1. Offer guest posts on related blogs. Find related blogs that are quite popular in your niche, and then ask the bloggers if they accept guest posts or not. If they accept guest posts, write high quality articles for those blogs regularly, and link back to your website home page for each article. Build your own reputation on those blogs, and ensure that people want to read more content from you.
  1. Optimize your content for the search engines. When writing content for your own website, be sure to optimize it for the search engines by adding your target keywords to your content. However, don’t overdo it. You need to sprinkle your keywords throughout your content without making it difficult to read. If possible, include other related keywords as well.
  2. Use a highly optimized web template. Your website template should also be highly optimized for the search engine, since it matters most for you to reach the highest ranking for your target keywords. Make sure that you optimize every element of your web template, including meta tags, meta description, page title, alternate tags, H1 tags, categories, and more.
  3. Get active in various social media platforms. You need to be active on various social media platforms with the goal to build good communication with your audience there. You can respond to their comments, answer their questions, appreciate their feedback, and more. Just be sure to communicate actively with your audience on social media platforms and encourage them to check out your website often.

Those are some super effective ways to attract traffic to your website quickly and easily. Once you’ve followed the tips above, you will be able to attract high quality traffic to your website that is highly converting for your affiliate business. This will all lead to building yourself a brand, making your consumers trust you, which is a very important aspect in the long term.

Step #6 – How To Monitor Your Results Easily And Automatically

At this point,  you’ve probably  started to generate some sales here and there, and you think that your affiliate business is working well. However, the problem is that you don’t know how or what causes the sales to take place. Is it a certain page on your website that makes people want to buy the products immediately? Is it the YouTube videos that make them want  to hit the “Buy Now” button? Or, is it something else? You need to figure out what works for your promotion, and what doesn’t work.

Adsbridge Traffic Tracker

Adsbridge Traffic Tracker

That’s why you have to monitor your results all the time. You want to know the conversion rate that you have from your traffic. You want to know the quality of your traffic, as well as the quality of your website content. Here are some tips that you can follow to monitor your affiliate marketing results easily and automatically:

  • Use a good affiliate tracking software. There are probably hundreds of tracking software that are available online and for free. However, only a few tracking softwares are designed specifically for affiliate marketers. The best way to track your affiliate marketing business is to use a good affiliate tracking software, which is often comes with a price. However, you should consider it as an investment on your part to make your business run smoothly without any problem. I would personally recommend tools like CPVLab.
  • Mask your affiliate links. When you give out your affiliate links to your audience, you should mask your links so that your audience doesn’t know at first sight that you are giving them affiliate links. Mask your links, and use a link tracker software to ensure that you can record the click through rate of your affiliate links easily.
  • Use A/B split testing. Use this A/B split testing to test between two different landing pages or content in your website, and see which one is giving you the best results. This is usually included in any affiliate tracking software, so you just need to use this feature often, until you find the best conversion rate for your promotion.

Now that you’ve monitored all aspects of your affiliate marketing business, you just need to see your conversion rate, and determine which one of your content gives you the best results, and which one needs some improvements.

Step #7 – How To Fine-Tune Your Promotional Materials And Boost Your Conversion Rate

This is the last step in this guide, and it will perfect your overall affiliate marketing business so that you can completely rely on it as one of your income sources. It’s time for you to fine-tune your promotional materials, fix some mistakes, and boost your conversion rate. The last step requires you to monitor your affiliate marketing business, and it is critical for you to do this step.

Stories can generate great number of conversions

Stories can generate great number of conversions

After some testing of a campaign, you should know about your click through rate, page views, and the conversion rate that you get for your affiliate campaign. At the same time, you should have enough data to find out  about which pages are giving you good results, and which landing pages are giving you no results at all. What you need to do is to keep the pages that are giving you good results, and then improve the pages that give you no results. Here are some tips to do it:

  • First, you have to take a look at the pages that don’t generate any sales for your affiliate campaigns. Read the page again and position yourself as an audience that is interested to learn more about the topic.
  • Next, you need to be able to determine why the page doesn’t convert as well as other pages. Do the headlines not enticing enough?
  • Then, you need to change various parts that may not give any motivation or interest for your audience to click on the affiliate links right away.
  • Then, check the sales page of the product that you promote and see whether it is converting well or not. Most of the time, the problem lies in the product not being high converting due to a poor sales page. So, no matter how good your content, you will not be able to make people buy the product.
  • If that is the case, you should change the product that you promote on your page. You should find a similar product with a better sales page than the previous product.
  • After that, you are ready to monitor the new pages and see whether there is any improvement that you make from the changes.

That is all for now, I hope you like this small guide and it will also help you to understand affiliate marketing properly, If you have any suggestions on how we can improve this guide please feel free to suggest by making comments below.

So lets start the interview!!

Tatiana Alshevskaya Mobidea Network

Tatiana Alshevskaya Mobidea Network

Tell us a little bit about yourself. How old are you? Where do you live?

Hello! My name is Tanya. I’m 27 years old. Several years ago, I came from Belarus to Portugal to do my Master’s degree in International Business. Since then, I’ve been happily based in Lisbon. It’s an amazing city with great weather, friendly people, and super tasty food.

How long have you been working in this industry, and how did you get involved?

Upon graduating from university, I worked in an ad agency in Belarus for 3 years. After moving to Portugal, I started working in the digital marketing industry. It’s been two years, and I really enjoy how fast-moving this industry is! At Mobidea, I work as a Key Account Manager and I’m always happy to help media buyers and webmasters on their way to success!

What is the most expensive thing you ever bought?

I prefer spending money on experiences, not things. That’s why I’m burning my hard-earned money on awesome trips that take me everywhere in the world! The memories of the remarkable places I visit stay with me forever and help me learn new things. Moreover, attending affiliate marketing industry events is a great way to meet interesting people and enrich your knowledge.

Please tell us more about Mobidea. What do you guys do?

Mobidea is a mobile affiliate network. We specialize in the monetization of mobile traffic from all over the world. We’ve got offers that have been previously tested for our affiliates, as well as the opportunity to use our Smart link so as to auto-optimize your traffic. You can check this post to understand how mobile affiliate marketing actually works.

mobidea affiliate network

mobidea affiliate network

There are lots of affiliate networks. How is Mobidea different when compared to what we see out there? What sets you apart from the crowd?

Here are some reasons that make us different:

  •  Our experienced team of Mobile Analysts can give you insights to help you make more money. We are doing media buying ourselves, so we know what we are talking about. Our multicultural, multilingual and dedicated support is available 7 days a week.
  •  We pay fast via Wire Transfer, PayPal, Paxum, Firstchoice Pay, Payza, and ePayments.
  •  We monetize mobile traffic worldwide
  •  We pay lots of attention to improving the knowledge of our affiliates with the help of the Mobidea Academy: Affiliate Marketing Training, Guides and Tips . It’s an amazing educational platform for online marketers!
  •  We also have Integrated Tracker Capabilities which allow users to easily deep dive, analyze remarkable amounts of reliable data, and make better decisions when going through the optimization process!

On average, how much revenue are your top affiliates currently generating?

More than enough to live a happy (and rich) life. You probably know those affiliates personally from events and workshops they give, where they may disclose their revenues.

How easy is it for affiliates to join your network? What is the main advice you can give to users who are interested and want to join Mobidea?

We are a pretty newbie-friendly network. You can start running the offers as soon as you fill out the signup form.

Since you can test immediately, we will only ask for documents after you’ve been able to generate your first 50€ in earnings. We request an Identification Document and a proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, etc.) that can be matched with your identity. This verification is important for security purposes. Moreover, affiliates can be sure this process is completely confidential.

If you could give one tip to the newcomers starting out in this fast-growing industry, what would it be?

Be patient. Lots of beginner media buyers quit too soon and try to make too many changes in their campaigns straight away. Imagine you have just launched your first campaign. You need to be prepared to invest some money on actually learning something from the data you get. Information is gold! That’s why one of the first steps is to just gather stats so that you can optimize and earn a lot of money in the future!

Can you tell us which are some of your most effective marketing methods that work on your network to drive traffic?

On our platform, we have a variety of offers. They open up a remarkable opportunity to every single affiliate to build their own strategy, later becoming able to know how to better promote offers. Our affiliates base their strategy on such factors as the offer type, the offer’s flow, the traffic sources, and the GEOs they prefer to work on.

Every year, you need to be more and more creative in order to make your campaigns work. That’s why our affiliates share feedback and really believe that creative materials are very important. A good pre-landing page should engage the user, be related to the offer, and have a professional appearance matching the design of both the banner and offer. Mobidea’s affiliates are constantly testing banners in combinations with pre-landers to see which flow works best.

What are your favorite traffic sources? What niche has worked best for your network?

We have a well-diversified portfolio of offers on our platform. For instance, we work with adult, dating, mobile content, sweepstakes, games and other verticals. We are open to new trends and are constantly diversifying our portfolio. Indeed, we go into Nutra, Finance, Health and Beauty offers, etc. We consistently try to develop our portfolio, so that we guarantee affiliates have the chance to choose the best offer in the niche they prefer to work on. Our industry is very dynamic which means that – as an account manager – I have to keep in touch with affiliates on a daily basis. This is hugely important, because it allows me to share the experience we have and provide advice about emerging opportunities.

On Mobidea, we know that media buying is not something that gets done by hearsay. I would like to point out that – depending on the vertical – different traffic sources can perform well. We’ve even made a detailed comparison of mobile adult ad networks in the Mobidea Academy that you can check. By reading it, you’ll be able to understand that we’ve had a pretty good experience with such big players on the market as ExoClick, Traffic Factory, Traffic Junky, etc.

On mainstream, the offers are even more diversified than on the adult vertical. This means you need to understand that some traffic is working better with a specific type of offers. For instance, sweeps are awesome on pop traffic. In general, on mainstream, I would pay attention to such ad networks as Adcash, Propeller Ads, and Zeropark. We’ve recently created a series of ad network reviews that you need to check.

Thanks KJ Rocker for an amazing interview! It’s always a pleasure to be able to talk about affiliate marketing in general, and Mobidea in particular! Hope to see you again soon! The next time we meet, I’ll be interviewing you instead. Keep creating awesome content! 🙂

I would like to thank Tatiana Alshevskaya for taking time out of her busy schedule and sharing her thoughts with us and telling us about her network. What are your thoughts on the interview? Kindly share your thoughts in the comments section below. Also, if you have any experience with Mobidea, please write a review for them in the comments below.

What to do when your campaign is not profitable!

Hey Guys ! Its been a long time since I posted something on this blog due to health issues and other time management issues and a busy schedule..

I took a long break from writing something, so today I thought I would write write a quick post about one of the most commonly asked questions about making campaigns profitable.  It’s always a difficult question to answer without knowing anything about the campaign or its details, But i will try to point out a few things which would always help you out to tweak your campaigns. As not every campaign is profitable at the start and you don’t make money.

Failed cpa campaign

How it feels when your campaigns fail.

Know when to direct link or use landing page

One of the biggest problems is affiliates are creating landing pages and the majority of people who face failures  can’t be bothered to create landing pages. I am not implying that direct linking doesn’t work at all it does but in some cases , Specially when we talk about pay per sale offers, it’s almost impossible to convert them with direct linking .. Unless you are promoting a well known brand or an offer which has a persuasive pre-sell page. The biggest advantage you get with the landing pages is that you can create multiple angles.

For example lets say I am promoting an email submit about Iphone 6…

Such offers have been running for years now, Now if i am direct linking the prospect will get this message ” Get a chance to win a free Iphone 7 by signing up to offer ”

If i use the same offer with a landing page, I can easily use Christmas as my angle and deliver a message which says something like this ” Double your Christmas celebrations by getting a chance to win free Iphone 7 ”

Now by using the landing page I wrapped same old campaign into a Christmas Special Offer. Which is not something people are used to everyday, I simply made it more believable by using Christmas as a reason my prospects should believe/follow me…

If you don’t want to work on landing pages at least ask your affiliate manager or advertiser to provide you with the new or different offer links. On any reasonable offer,   advertisers would be happy to help you out and get you different offer landing pages. If you have good volume the advertisers won’t hesitate to get some new offer landing pages created for you as well.

Figure out the problem

So you got a campaign up and running but after a few conversions and spending 3x or 4x amount of payout you stopped the campaign because its not making you any profits. While quitting or blaming traffic source/ CPA network is easy The real job, the difficult task is to read your data and find out the mistakes you made, Maybe you are not getting enough CTR, or your landing page is bad and the offer isn’t receiving enough clicks, or your offer is receiving traffic but its not converting. Maybe some of the   bad keywords are eating up your whole campaign budget and the ones which convert do not have enough budget allocated to them or they simply need increase in their bids. This is the best time to sit back and find out where you are making mistakes and study the data you have been collecting on your tracker and consult your traffic network and your CPA Network affiliate managers. One piece of advise I always give to people under my CPA Marketing coaching program  is to never hesitate in asking questions, As this is what helps you most and this is why your CPA networks and your Traffic Networks have hired their account managers; to help you out! So feel free to seek advise from your account managers if you are unable to figure out the problems in your campaign. Its always a best idea to test your offer yourself to make sure its conversion pixels fire before starting advertising campaigns.

Collect Data !

So you hear from someone that they are making good money on a specific traffic source and you just jump into that traffic source and find it hard to make your campaigns profitable? Here is the reality, Every traffic source is hard to convert, the only difference between you and the person who is printing money from the same traffic source is that the successful person you are trying to copy has data on that traffic network. Lets talk about a few traffic networks here; Leadimpact, many people would complain about their their rubbish traffic quality but what they forget is that successful people have collected enough data with them that they are able to filter out bad traffic sources, Same is the case with Pop Ads, Zero Park, Cash ads , 7 Search, many other similar networks and Native Adnetworks.

By data I don’t only mean your converting keywords but also the traffic source ids and in native ads placements and widget ids. Once you have a adequate collection of the sources in your data, you can easily filter out the bad traffic sources in your networks and spend your budget on the sources which provide you converting traffic. It’s never hard to mail your Adnetwork and ask them for their tracking features ( what you can track ) and their tracking tokens.

These were a few tips i wanted to share with you guys today , Do let me know if you have any questions by making comments below.

Adcombo CPA Network Review

Hey guys today I wanted to write about a network I came across a few days ago, Its called “Adcombo“. Normally I don’t write about networks but after working with their team and learning how serious they were about their network I decided to check it out by signing up..

Adcombo cpa network

Adcombo homepage

I must say I really liked their homepage and it’s very unusual for a network in the CPA Industry  to have good looking websites, ( have a look at my blog) but Adcombo has really made a very positive change in this industry and their homepage really looks awesome and gives a great first impression.

What Adcombo has to offer!

Quick and Easy Account Approval

This is  a big headache, especially for newbies these days, I have noticed that the waiting time for the account approval process with majority of  CPA networks is increasing more and more.  CPA Networks are understaffed and have no staff to manage everything properly or their affiliate managers are too busy with managing their existing affiliates( A few very popular networks are best examples).  This results in new affiliates waiting for weeks to get their accounts approved, With Adcombo that account approval time is decreased down to 24 hours, which is great for those affiliates who are tired of waiting for weeks to get approved on CPA Networks. As long as you are sending legit traffic and you know the basics of affiliate marketing you shouldn’t have any problem with the approval process at all .

Easy Payment Terms

Once again unlike many other networks Adcombo provides the best possible payment terms for affiliates. Their minimum payment threshold is $50 which is really helpful especially when you are just starting out! Aside from their minimum payment threshold, they also offer a weekly payment option as well, and their payment options include; Paypal, Payoneer, WebMoney and Wire transfer. These are the most flexible payment terms in whole industry and thats what I really love about Adcombo .. Because money is important right?

Variety of Offers and Geos

With growing competition in Western countries, It’s sometimes really hard to find something which can make you a big profit margin, and so you have to get out of the western market and look around for offers from the countries where there is less competition. In main stream CPA Networks its really hard to find solid offers from different non competitive geo,  I am sure my readers who have been promoting mobile will understand what i am talking about… For example lets talk about India , Pakistan South Asia and the Middle East. These countries are full of potential and they are almost untouched so far, from affiliate marketing. You won’t find many offers for these countries in your mainstream CPA Networks this means there is almost no competition or not many affiliates are promoting in these countries .. Adcombo have hundreds of offers from different countries, giving you a chance to pick up offers for geo of your choice..

Responsive Team

There is nothing more annoying than having an affiliate manager who never helps you or answers the questions you ask from them, or even when they do, they give you a canned response. I have seen in almost all networks except 2,3 networks, the majority of affiliate managers will never try to make extra effort to help you out.

adcombo built in support

adcombo built in support system

With Adcombo you are assigned a dedicated affiliate manager who will make sure all your questions are answered on time and they will do their best to help you out. They have also got a built in support area within their CPA Network interface, so you don’t have to goto your email inbox or open skype to get in touch with your affiliate manager. You can simply open a ticket from your network account dashboard.   The awesome support they offer to their affiliates is what I love the most about Adcombo; their team! I would advise you to ask for Ella as your affiliate manager ..

So far my experience with Adcombo has been excellent , Now it’s your turn to join them and let me know what you think by making comments below!

How to pick up a winner CPA offer

This is the most frequently asked question in the Affiliate industry, and a step which can make or break your affiliate campaign. No matter what traffic source you choose, without choosing the right offer it’s very difficult to succeed. One of the reason many newbies end up losing all their money is because they fail to choose the right offer.

Winner CPA Offers

A few examples of picking up wrong offer are.

  • Picking up offer with too much competition.
  • Picking up offer with bad conversion rate/ Offers with too much bad reputation.
  • Offers with small audience
  • Offers with hard conversion requirements

So lets have a look at all these examples one by one ..

CPA Offers with too much competition.

Booking.com is a perfect example of such types of offers. When it was new or off the CPA Networks its conversion rates were touching the skies. However as soon as everyone realized its converting well and has a huge potential, All the affiliates along with their cats jumped in and started promoting this offer. Those who started this offer early made good money and those who joined the party after realizing people are making good money on this offer couldn’t make good profits. Because by the time they were able to realized the earning potential the offer had there was already plenty of competition. The new guys couldn’t make campaigns successful, now don’t get me wrong this offer still works however if you think it would be easy to launch this offer on main stream networks targeting top tier countries it might not be a good idea, you will have to work on new angles and explore new international market in order to survive. So the lesson here is not to follow crowd instead create your own path.

TIP : If you really want to promote this one I would suggest you to go international.

Picking up offer with bad conversion rate/ Offers with bad reputation.

Here I am talking about beat up offers/Niches, which are already dead offers/websites with bad reputation. Penny auctions comes into mind. The better reputation an offer has the better conversion rate you would get and the easier it would be for you to promote. One of the best strategy I personally use is to contact the services I personal like/use and contact them asking if they have any affiliate program and most of the times they do have affiliate program or even if they don’t have I would contact one of their competitors and join them. If they have an affiliate program this is one of the best ways to get offers which are not available to affiliates (as the majority of affiliates rely on CPA networks to get them offers). You can also ask your CPA Networks to get offers from your favorite website/service.

Offers with small audience

This is a common problem, some time a niche or an offer doesn’t have a very broad audience and you get very limited amount of traffic. The ideal offer for you would be where you have large audience specially when it comes to PPV traffic. For example, if you are promoting campaigns related to injury claims in UK you wont find many targets with good traffic volumes.

Offers with hard conversion requirements

Now this is another major factor sometimes affiliates ignore. Whenever you are about to start promoting an offer, make sure you test it yourself first. If your network is using “Cake Platform” they have offer test option by default, however if your network doesn’t have this option there is no harm in using VPN (If offer is for a different country) and registering for the offer yourself and see at what point your offer converts. For example, in dating you would find many offers where you get conversion only when a user becomes a paid member and in the network offer description the offer is listed as email submit/complete signup. You can let your affiliate manager know the conversion id so they can remove the test conversion from your stats once you are done testing the offer. By testing the offer, yourself you will also get a better idea about how the offer works and would be able to guide your audience about it as well which will help you increase your conversion rate. Coming back to the topic, I always recommend to start with simple offers which require less action from the end user and are easy to convert. Most of times when starting out people run for the high paying offers however its just like a fresh graduate running after a managerial position in a company.
So these were the examples explaining how people mess-up when they are choosing offers. Now let’s talk about how not to mess things up form the very start and how to the pickup right offers.

  • Ask your affiliate manager
  • Look for the offers with popular names/reputation
  • Keep an eye out for fresh the offers/niches
  • Ask your affiliate network if they have offers which are not made public yet.

Ask your affiliate manager

Your affiliate manager could be one of the best advisors if you know exactly what to ask for. In most cases people have no idea what kind of questions they should be asking their affiliate managers or are too scared to get in touch with them.  Instead of asking your affiliate manager the generic questions be very specific. For example, if you are good at a specific traffic source ask them to give you the best converting offers working well with that specific traffic source and get as much information from them as possible for example ask them about what kind of landers work well. What kind of targets to choose etc..
Also your relation with your affiliate manager is very important and to improve that make sure you send them greeting cards on special occasions or a few kind words of appreciations will make their day and they would be more then happy to help you out as much as possible.

Look for offers with popular names/reputation

As I mentioned before a bad reputation can really hurt your conversions in the same way promoting well known brands can really increase your conversions and make things much easier for you. For example, it would be much easier to sell “Beach Body” due to its powerful commercials and “More Niche” with their real celebrity testimonials as compared to a random offer nobody has heard about before. As I stated above you can also work directly with your favorite services or ask your network to get their offer.

Keep an eye out for fresh offers/niches

This one is my favorite, Be the first ones to try out an offer or even a traffic sources. Whenever you discover something new make sure you try them at least for once. I learned this when I was promoting CPA Offers using 7 Search and I used to pick up all new offers from maxbounty and try them out when others used to complain about how 7search is the worst network and their IPhone email submits are not working. Related to the point where I discussed how high competition can crush your chances of success. Let’s say there are two roads one is crowded and the other one is empty, which one will take you home earlier? The one where every driver is heading and causing a traffic jam or the one where you have no traffic? Of curse you would go for the second one that is the case here.  For sure you might lose money as **THE OFFER IS NOT PROVEN WINNER YET** Because its new but still you have no competition and it is better to loose money by trying something new instead of loosing your money where everyone else is loosing.  And there has to be someone who will make it a proven winner, that better be you then some else.

Ask your affiliate network if they have offers which are not made public yet
In many cases affiliate networks test offers internally by running traffic to them before releasing them to the public, or they just let a few selected affiliates run that offer before the offer is made public to other affiliates. Try to be one of the first batch of the affiliates to try new types of offers instead of deciding to try them once offers are saturated and there is no more juice left in the offer.

So guys these were my thoughts about how to choose offers, you are free to agree or disagree with me. However, I would love to read what you have to say about this, whether you agree or disagree. So let me know what you think by commenting below. Your feedback will encourage me to keep writing more …

P.S: Don’t forget to share this post with your fellows 🙂

Does PPV Traffic Still Work in 2016?

One of the most common questions I have been asked for years and still people ask me; Is PPV traffic still worth investment and does it still work, especially for CPA offers?

I have been promoting CPA offers for 4 years now. I started off with 7Search in the times when people were talking about how bad quality 7Search traffic is and how it never works for them. However I choose 7search because it was affordable for me ( I had low budget) and also the fact that there was little competition as most of times people were scared of loosing money on 7Search and they considered it as a bad quality traffic source. From there after, building a handsome budget, I moved onto PPV traffic as 7search was working well for me. However, there was also not much traffic volume on that traffic source.

Since then I have been promoting PPV and I still am promoting my campaigns on PPV traffic. I have seen many PPV networks come and go and what I want to say here is that we are in an industry where things keep evolving. Things keep changing and what you need in order to become successful is to keep adopting new trends.

Now to the answer weather PPV is dead or not, Of course for the people who used to simply direct link campaigns all the time, PPV is really dead. Those days are almost gone, specially if you are thinking you can make profits by direct linking same 3 years old offer, that is never going to be possible.

So here are a few things you should consider if you want to become successful with PPV in 2016 …

How to make PPV traffic work for you in 2016

Learn about your traffic network.

How many times have you contacted your account manager with your traffic source? Have you ever asked them about their traffic inventory or what kind of tracking tokens are available etc? For example, I would like to mention most people complain about bad quality traffic from leadimpact. You can easily put a stop to bad quality by asking your account manager to only give you leadimpact’s own inventory traffic, without third parties and also by using %brand% token to filter bad quality publishers and ask your manager to block the bad quality publishers.

Adopt new offers /niches.

When ever you have a new type of offer, you get better conversions; as those offers are not saturated or those products/services which are popular but not yet available on CPA Networks. For example, one of the well-known offers is booking.com, we have been promoting that offer directly with booking.com for a long time before they were available on CPA Networks. Many popular brands have their own affiliate programs so if you can not find an offer on a CPA Network make sure you contact that brand directly and ask them if they have their affiliate program.

Use Landing Pages.

Last month we created over 100 landing pages and the total size of that folder was above 3GB. One thing I always advise to people is to keep improving your landing pages, once you have created landing pages do not stop and keep improving those landing pages and keep editing them. As I said before, the days of direct linking are gone, If you are looking for examples etc. we have are offering 40+ landing pages as an upsell to PPV Rocker V4 Buyers ( The new Updated PPV course I recently launched)

Focus list building as money is in the list.

This is no secret, money is always in your list, If you have a proper funnel and you can get started with building your lists you can make 5X of what you make by sending your traffic directly to the advertisers. List building offers you two advantages; 1. You can reach your prospects whenever you want without any additional costs. For example, if you are sending traffic to an offer without list if you want to advertise again to the customer you will have to pay again to the traffic source. 2. By building list you have full control over your subscribers and you can send them emails anywhere anytime you want.

The second advantage is that you can promote multiple products to your list, from CPA offers to click bank products or any other traditional network products as well and earn commissions.

Try new traffic networks.

One of the biggest problem of using traditional top networks is that the are full of competition. As when people start learning about PPV they only come to know a few big names, which increases the competition and makes it hard for some people to make profits specially for starters. So if that is what your problem is, start looking out of these networks and you will find many other networks out there which you can use. In fact, there are many networks which share their inventory with the bigger networks as well so you will find many small networks with same traffic quality like the big networks.

Never Give Up.

This one is specially for those who are just starting out and are about to give up, this is normal and happens with all of us. Be it Facebook, PPC, Media buying or any other traffic source you will have to learn the ropes, no one can become a millionaire in just one day and it takes countless sleepless nights to become successful so if you are just thinking to give up because things are not work for you, It would be worth it to find your mistakes and find an expert who can help you with your campaigns.

Meet the man behind the Thrive Tracker – Tom Fang

In todays interview I have Tom Fang with me, Tom is the Founder of iPyxel Creations company which managed Thrive Tracker, which he funded out of his own pocket upon leaving an early career in real estate private equity. I hope you all would enjoy reading his interview with us and learning about his tracker.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. How old are you? Where do you live?

I am 28 years old, and I currently live in Santa Monica, CA, about a half block from the beach.  I moved here recently and am really loving it.
Life wasn’t always as stable though.  My parents immigrated to the US from China when I was 5, and I didn’t see them again until when I was 9, when they brought me over to spend the rest of my childhood in Fargo, North Dakota.

They separated pretty much right away, and I was raised by my mother, who really struggled tremendously trying to survive with me in this country while having nothing and no ability to legally work (student visa).

I am truly grateful to this country for the opportunities and the benefits that children are able to get, else I would not be here today.  I think we often times take for granted how it is here in comparison to a lot of the world.

How long have you been working in this industry, and how did you get involved? What was your first money maker?

Depends on the definition of “the industry”. I first started dabbling in internet marketing about 5 years ago when I was still working but unfulfilled.  I started working with a partner who had introduced me to spamming.

That didn’t sit well with us for long, so we started to get into paid traffic and started to buy from Plenty of Fish (POF), which was hot at the time.

Because I was very good with Excel, I built an entire automated model to optimize our POF operation that would allow us to run hundreds of campaigns and thousands of ads at one time with relative ease as the model would spit out the best and worst performers.

At peak, we did a little over $30,000 revenue in one month, but my passion was never to run campaigns.  I wanted to turn what I built into software so others can use it.

Can you please tell us a little about your professional background?

I was lucky enough to get into the best business school in the country and graduated from Wharton with a degree in finance. After school, I went to work for Walton Street Capital, which is a multi-billion dollar private equity fund for large commercial real estate investments, where the biggest deal I worked on was a $310 MM+ debt deal where we foreclosed on 2.65 MM square feet of office space in Seattle.

While I still have strong interest in real estate and love my finance background, I was always more interested in technology and the internet, and pretty early on, I knew I had to try to build a software business.

What is the most expensive thing you ever bought?

I’m really not too materialistic. I think the most expensive thing outside of business expenses would be that I recently spent over $3,000 on a personal training package at the Venice Gold’s Gym.  I am now in the best shape of my life.  If we’re talking about a thing, then I think my $1,500 Surface Pro would be it.

What is your biggest achievement so far? And also what are your biggest failures?

My biggest achievement would definitely be building my company iPyxel and our latest product Thrive. I am a non-technical, solo founder of a bootstrapped, profitable early stage SaaS startup targeting the high traffic, data-heavy performance advertising market. You don’t hear that combination every day, and it’s through a desperate determination and a lot of time and effort that we are here today.

What is your Daily Routine?

Work – whenever I wake up naturally
Eat

Personal Training

Relax for a few hours
Work a little more before bedWeekends are more fun though, and I go swim in the ocean almost every weekend.

What tips would you give to those who want to take the path of entrepreneurship?

Entrepreneurship can take on a lot of forms depending on your definition, but if we’re talking about starting a company, I say:Don’t do it. It probably won’t work, and the risk-adjusted return for your time isn’t worth it.But, true entrepreneurs can’t NOT do it.  That’s how you know you should start a company.  I believe if you’re an entrepreneur, then you would be an entrepreneur, despite great odds of failure.  You’d already be doing it, or at the very least, you have concrete plans on when you’ll be quitting your job and doing it full time.If you are going to do it, I suggest you self-fund it or raise a little bit from friends and family and try to sell your product until you can make enough to live.

Are you an affiliate yourself?

No, I have not been an affiliate for over 3 years, since the POF days. I have a lot of close connections with affiliates so I know what affiliates need in a product and service, but, I believe it is a major conflict of interest to be running traffic and also build a tracking platform.

Tell us about Thrive and what inspired you to start this service?

Originally, I started Thrive because all of the self-hosted trackers out there at the time were really bad and did not have a world-class development team behind it who could product a cutting edge product for modern times. We’re still, by far, the best self-hosted tracking option. Today, Thrive has a self-hosted plan, but also a much bigger, and thriving Cloud Service, where we’re competing head to head with Voluum on. When we started offering a cloud option, I didn’t expect the demand, but today, our Cloud Service is 2/3 of our total revenue, and we’re reinvesting massively into greatly improving our cloud platform for years to come. Our Cloud Service is deployed on 8, soon to be 9, of Amazon’s data centers.  Our complex caching system keeps all the data loading fast, no matter how much data you have over time. Lastly, I think trust is a big thing.  We have a lot of big affiliates use Thrive simply because they trust us, as we’ve demonstrated we have the user’s best interest every single time.  We don’t have media buyers, and we never run traffic ourselves.

Thrive tracker

As we all know setting up tracking platforms like yours is not a bed of roses, what was your biggest problem when you started?

The biggest problem in the beginning was figuring out how to handle huge scale. We want to serve the affiliate who is just starting, but we also want to serve the biggest affiliates in the industry. We really hammered this home and went after this relentlessly, and we will soon be able to claim that we have the most scalable tracker with the fastest redirect speeds worldwide.

What are special features in your tracking platform which we can not find in other trackers?

The devil is always in the details. Thrive does a lot of things that make your lives easier, and it’s hard to point to specific things.  For example, Thrive adds automation capabilities so that if an offer goes down, Thrive has an offer swap function that allows you to instantly swap that offer from all of your campaigns for a different offer. If I had to name specific features, here are a couple more:Cloaker/Bot Filter:  We have pre-configured filters to filter out bot traffic so that they do not contaminate your actual data, and we log all of the bot clicks in a separate report.  You can also design your own cloaking system and send any unwanted visitors to a ‘safe page’ by creating multiple layered rules based on IP, referrer, URL-parameter, geo, device, browser, OS, etc.Multi-User Access:  You can create multiple roles and users that only have specific access to certain parts of the application or even specific sets of campaigns.  You want to grow your business eventually right?  Then any employees/outsourcers can have their own logins and not be exposed to the rest of your business.  You can also have multiple media buyers only responsible for their own campaigns and you have the ability to view everything

Can your tracker handle large traffic volume?

As mentioned previously, this was the first thing we focused on. I didn’t want to build another “me-too” tracker that could not handle high volume at fast speeds. On our Cloud Service, we have some users who are running over 10 million clicks/day, and we’re looking to continually bring on even bigger affiliates and media buying groups. The great thing about us is that if you run over 1 million clicks/day, you start to see significant savings over our competitors like Voluum.  At the biggest volumes, we’re about 50% less expensive, which makes a BIG difference at that kind of volume.

How large is your team? How many people work under you?

Our full-time team right now is still small at 4 people. We have a few more part-timers, and I use a lot of contractors for specific, specialized tasks.  We’re extremely lean, and we’re proud to have accomplished so much with so little. For a long time, it was just me and David, our VP of Engineering.  This next year we are planning on growing more.

There are a lot of tracking solutions these days, what makes yours different and how does it stand out?

We’ve discussed scale, we’ve discussed speed and performance, we’ve discussed our dedication to privacy and trust, and we’ve discussed some awesome features.I think in addition to all of that, it’s worth mentioning that Thrive has the ability to track pretty complex funnels and upsell sequences. We have a “Branches” feature where you can create multiple rotations on the same page, in a sequence, or otherwise link to it anywhere in a funnel. This allows you to do multiple steps, multiple split tests of different steps, and keep “branching” off in your funnel as many times as you want to track the most complex funnels.Additionally, we cater to power users. We have a fully documented and dedicated API for all users.  You can control all reporting and campaign management functions through the API.Recently, LPOptimizer integrated with Thrive, and we hope more 3rd party products utilize Thrive’s API.

Lastly, I think it’s worth mentioning that any of our users will tell you we have the best support in the industry.  The only thing we care about is providing the best tracking product and service for our users.  Our recent adoption of ZenDesk is another commitment to provide better support.

We get a lot of tickets that come in and be answered within 10 minutes, and our users are often surprised like, “wow, that was quick!”

What are your plans for the future?

We’re going to continue to work our asses off to improve upon Thrive and build the best tracking product and service in the industry. We have huge huge plans for Thrive, including integration of call tracking, affiliate network tracking capabilities, mobile app tracking, and vertical-specific tools.

What are the challenges you are facing right now and how are you planning to overcome those challenges?

Our biggest challenge is finding the best software engineers and convincing them to come work for us, because it’s often hard to understand this industry if you’re an outsider.Great software engineers in the US are very expensive, but we’re committed to building a world class engineering organization in the US.

What are your favorite traffic sources? And why?

We are completely traffic source-agnostic as we never look into user data to assess whether something is doing well or not. We’re fully focused on providing our users the best platform to do their jobs.

If you could go back in time and do things differently, what one thing would you change?

I would have spent a lot more of my pre-college days learning to code and taking a crack at building things and entrepreneurship.I would have also have us built and launch Thrive earlier so we could be first movers instead of second.

What budget do you suggest to start advertising with affiliate marketing?

I think a lot of people who start media buying expect to make a lot with very little. The mindset needs to change to the fact that you are starting a business, and a real business requires investment and the right tools.I think you should make at least $10,000 from a job first, then set it aside to invest in your business. Don’t skimp on the tools, the hosting, the domains, etc. etc.  Give yourself the best shot.

Is there anything else you want to share with our readers?

I hope everyone will find a way to give us a shot. At the very least, just start a conversation with us.  Email contact@ipyxel.com if you’re interested in our products, and we will answer any questions and concerns you may have for your specific use-case.  We will not miss a single email. If you’re a high volume user, please contact us, and let us know roughly how much you run a day, and we will provide you with a quote.  Doesn’t hurt to ask and start a conversation at least!

I would like to thank Tom Fang for taking time out of his busy routine for us. I really enjoyed interviewing Tom and it was a great pleasure for me to interview him.
