Headlines Essential to Driving Traffic from Search & Social

While it might not be surprising to many, the headline of a story is the most important factor when attempting to drive traffic to it from either social sites or search engines.  This is according to a new study by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.  The study analyzed the habits of 20,000 people in 12 different countries and learned a lot of important information.  The following are some of the key points that are covered in the study, and how they can be used by marketers.

Headlines More Important for Search than Social

While a good headline is essential for a successful story no matter where it is published, the study found that it is significantly more important when people see it on search results compared to social media.  For search results, the study showed that more than 50% of people in each country (well more than 50% in some countries) said that the headline was the most important factor when determining which stories they click on.  For social, on the other hand, that number dropped to an average of 37% for most countries, with the highest being just under 50% in Ireland.

Other Factors that Encourage Clicks

The other factors that were ranked were ‘content that comes from a site I know and trust’ which was the second most popular option and ‘content that comes from a person I know and trust.’  For search, not surprisingly, content that comes from a person I know and trust only got a few percentage of the people.  On social, however, it was nearly 25% in most countries.  This is, of course, because people see their friends and family sharing a post so they assume it is going to be interesting or engaging.

For search, having a site that is from a trusted site that people recognize is far more important than having a site that comes from people they trust.  In most cases, Google and the other search engines will rank trusted and/or recognizable sites such as well known news sites, YouTube, WikiPedia and things like that.  For marketers, building a brand can help drive traffic by building trust in the brand name.  Of course, that takes time.

Using Proper Headlines

While it may be obvious that using great headlines is essential to driving the most traffic you can, it isn’t always as easy as people would like.  Figuring out what types of headlines work best for your specific site or product can be difficult.  Some things are proven to drive traffic, but they don’t convert very well.  On the other hand, some types of headlines may not get as much traffic but will convert at higher rates because of the fact that it attracts more motivated buyers.

So before starting out let me tell you PPv is a great source of traffic if you use it with proper planning and a plan. The first and most important thing is to do your home work properly , If you want to succeed into ppv stop thinking like a noob and throw up a campaign randomly and expect it to generate good $$$ for you .  So here are my 5 tips you can use to make most out of your campaign.

Know your offer.

I have seen many affiliates doing this launching campaigns without having any idea about offers and campaigns. That is just like walking blindly or what I call it shooting in the dark , I have seen many affiliates promoting offers which they themselves dont know about . Stop doing that lean your offer before promoting it to your traffic it’s just like selling a product you have no idea about.

Use Proper Tracking

Tracking your traffic is must without tracking your traffic you wont know what’s working and what’s not. For example at start most of the campaign are always in negative numbers to make them profitable you will have to delete those targets which are not working for example let’s say I have a $50 campaign and it generates $40 a day and once looking into stats we see there are only 5 targets which are converting for us while all other targets are causing us to lose money. Now looking at numbers we find that $40 from our campaign go toward targets which are not generating any leads, and winners only get $10 from all daily budget. Now by simply cutting off all keywords where we are losing we can stop losing $40 and devote those $40 to those targets which are generating leads for campaign and we can turn one loser campaign into a successful one it’s as simple as that, But to do that we will need to track our traffic so we can know from which target we are getting lead sand which target is making us lose money. I always recommend people to use CPVLAB. Yes other solutions are free but none of them comes near to CPVLAB .

Analyze data you have collected

It really amazes me how affiliates never use their tracking tools properly , During my ppv consulting sessions I see most of my students are losing because they can`t use their tool properly . It is very unfortunate that we consider trackers only software to know successful keywords and that’s it . If you have a look at trends in your tracker you will see information about times of a day you get conversions , Days of week and days in months these factors are sometimes key to make your campaigns successful as we need to remove anything from our campaign that is making us lose money so that’s very important to know your software take some time out of your busy routine and read all manuals and instructions your tracking software provides and then accordingly analyze your data  and create campaigns.

Split test landing pages and offers

It is always good to split test different landing pages and offers and never ever underestimate anything, It is possible the landing page think will work best may fail and the one you consider bad may get you more results. Split test different landing pages and once you have a landing page with high CTR again test and it try to work on increasing its CTR . In same way sometimes a similar offer from two or more than two networks may have different results so always split test a offer from different networks too.
