I have decided to start a new series in my blog where I will write small guides about different advertising networks which I have used and I am currently using. The purpose of writing these guides is to include the information which matters and my personal notes and processes about a network, which I only usually share with my team.
When it comes to Push Notifications, PropellerAds is one of the well-known networks and I have written about them on many occasions and I believe that they are one of the Best Push Notification networks.
PropellerAds are one of my few go to networks when it comes to testing an offer, as I am very comfortable with the platform and If an offer works on PropellerAds network, that means I can easily scale it on other networks.
Let’s get started with Today’s topic then; how to launch a Push notification Offer on PropellerAds.
Whenever you start a campaign, your first goal is not to make a profit, but to collect data. Within that data, you are going to gather information about a few things :
Converting Zone Id’s :
Your first goal is to separate 3 types of zone ids. The first type is the profitable one, The second type is the ones which are converting but are not profitable yet, and the third and the last type is the Zone ids which do not convert/ Have bad quality traffic.
Creatives play a very important role in the success or failure of your campaigns, which is why, the more creatives you have, the better. You can test different headlines against different teasers (Images). The more you test, the better. Test, Test, Test!!
This is one of the most important features I look for in any Push Notification Network. On PropellerAds, it is labelled as ”User Activity”, and divided into three groups. This helps you understand what kind of subscribers are converting best for you, and once you have enough data you can easily spend money on those user groups which matter to you and your campaign.
There are three tiers to user freshness.
Device Targeting :
People tend to behave differently on every device, so it’s always a good idea to gather data about what device type converts best for you. There are many reasons for that. For example, your offer page may not be optimized for mobile devices, or your offer page may not be optimized for desktop, or in some cases (Lead generation), it is harder to sign up using mobile devices, so all these factors can easily affect your conversion rates. This is why you should always know what device type converts the best.
Operating System Targeting :
This is another important factor which can make or break your campaign. For example, mobile conversion rates vary on different OS versions.
Browser targeting :
One of the important factors in the optimization phase is to see which browser is converting best, and again conversion rates vary based on browser versions too.
City Targeting :
Most of the time people ignore this segment, but in my opinion, knowing your most profitable cities helps you to only focus on cities and audiences which are making you good profits. For example, in my financial campaigns, London produces the best results, so instead of targeting all over the united kingdom, I only focused on London, and that easily tripled my ROI.
When it comes to carrier billing offers this is one of the most important segments you should be looking out for.
How to Launch Your Campaigns:
When launching a campaign following are the settings you should pay special attention to.

CPA Goal 2.0
The system is finding the best traffic and optimising your campaign according to the desired CPA and targeting
You will get charged only when someone clicks on your ad.
This pricing model should be chosen if you would like to pay only for amount of impressions.
CPA Goal 2.0
If you are just testing, I would recommend starting with either CPA Goal 2.0 as it can easily help you gather initial data.
When starting with CPA Goal 2.0 the best bet is to set 80%-90% of your Payout as your CPA goal, to start with, so you can gather better data. Once you have gathered enough data with CPA Goal 2.0, you can then scale your campaigns using CPC Pricing Model.
(The one I will discuss today).
CPC Pricing Model:
So finally we are talking about my favourite one.
Why is it my favourite you ask? Well, the reason is that it gives you more control over targeting.
Frequency / Capping by Сlicks:
Wherever possible I try to keep the frequency capping number as high as I can, So that I can reach as many people as possible! Instead of showing the same person my offer, again and again, I try to reach as many people as possible!
Push Notification Types:
In my tests, I always get the best results from the classic push, And Inpage Push has been unlucky for me so I always try to stick with classic push.
Somehow the use of emojis is a new normal these days. They can help you to earn the trust of the user as well as using them to delve into user emotion and response. Here are some of my top emojis:

Also, insertion of City and Country macros can help you increase your CTR, and make your Notifications more interesting for the users.
This is my favourite part. These 5 settings are super important and play a huge role in your success!
Always create a separate campaign for each setting. For example
- 1 Campaign for Broker Traffic Only
- 1 Campaign For High User Activity ( With Only PropellerAds And High User Activity Checked )
- 1 Campaign for medium User Activity ( With Only PropellerAds And Medium User Activity Checked )
- 1 campaign for low User Activity ( With Only PropellerAds And Low User Activity Checked )
- 1 campaign for only Leave Only Premium Zones
For the bidding section, when in the testing phase, you don’t want to bid too high, as you may end up losing all your budget within minutes. So it is a good idea to start somewhere around avg recommended bid, and following PropellerAds, traffic chart, start somewhere that gives you a 50% + chance of a conversion.
The rest of the settings are pretty normal. You can choose the device types you want to target and Browser types etc, as I discussed above…
